*Favorite things #2

White Built-In Shelves
When it's a bit chilly or rainy out it seems the perfect time to catch up with some reading. Like a lot of women artists, "Where Women Create" is a favorite book of mine. They seem kind of organzied in comparison to my crazy ways, but I'm sure they get a tiny bit more messy, too.
Today I wandered back to this site, http://diana-serendipity.blogspot.com/ and loved seeing Diana's studio. It is really a great space. But what caught my attention was her bookshelves.

When we first moved in we started building shelves for all the books and stuff we had accumulated. The built-in's that are now in my daughter's bedroom were once in different rooms. We took them out and re-vamped them a couple of years ago, adding moldings and fresh paint.

Diana's pictures reminded me how much I love that gorgeous combination of medium golden yellow and white built-ins. It's nice to have a reminder of the good things we already have. I went back and looked for a picture to show you.

I'm wondering if it might have some changes coming.
*Disclaimer* The room is a mess right now! Big mess. Old selective photography.

  3. I love this room and I love what you did with that wicker chaise. I had one of those and I gave it back to my mom but now that I see yours I may ask her for it again. Your house needs to be in a magazine, it is so beautiful.

  12. oh my your room is absolutely gorgeous... and sooo comfy.. I love white bookshelves. Thank you so much for the mention of my blog ! The bookshelves in my studio were originally 3very plain separate old wood bookcases that we bought from Storehouse in the 1980s. A few years ago we rehabed them.. We screwed them together, added some trim and painted them.. and were so proud of our efforts.

  13. Hi,
I don't know you but stumbled across your blog from a link on another blog. I love this picture of your study! You have amazing taste and I love all of the toile and the french accessories. I also L-O-V-E your wall color. Would you mind sharing what color it is? I am looking for something similar for my (I hope it's mine but I'm not sure yet!) new house. Anyways, thanks for the great pic and would love to know about the paint.

    Take care,
    Kari

  14. OK, I'm back. I have to say - your home is so gorgeous and so inspirational - I agree with the other poster who said it looks like a model home. Would you share pics of the rest of your home? I am about to take on decorating our new house (the one mentioned prior) and I would love the inspiration!

  15. This is a design creation that is so WELL DONE that no matter how many times one views the room, there seems to be a new, special detail that is delightfully uncovered with the eye.... just layers of perfection in here Miss Donna.
