When I came back in from watering the new flower babies out front, I noticed that the porch was dirty. Well, not now of course. You know I cleaned it up before taking pictures.
During each season, I change this iron flower basket to something different. I've had it for years, so it's been changed a lot of times.
Today it has an orchid along with hydrangeas, ivy, berries, and some feathers and other fillers. And I added a new black and white checked ribbon. I stared at 20 ribbons and thought they all would look good, and this one finally won out.
If you haven't seen this area before, you might like to know that the porch floor is faux tile. Another very easy, and time consuming project. This was a quick fix several years ago. It has several coats of waterbased poly on it and it has stood up to being outside (covered) for many years. I am planning to put travertine over it, like the back door area, but just never got around to it yet.
The door has been blue, green, white and goodness knows what. It's been painted an antique faux bois (pretend wood) for lots of years, too. Even though it was natural wood to begin with. This I still love, so it can stay. :)
Hope you are all having a great week!
Love the iron basket of flowers. Your porch is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI did the same faux tile on my porch. It has stood up very well. Every other summer I put another coat of poly on it.

SO pretty and welcoming! I love the arrangement, and that ribbon is a perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteI don't see the new backgrounds on your blog, or Rhoda's. :( I even tried at work today, since everything is always updated there. I feel like everyone's in on a joke but me. ;) I wish that I could see the new looks, too!
Hope you're having a good Wednesday.
Your porch and door and all, make such an inviting entry way. And I love the soft yellow color of your home.

Donna your basket is gorgeous. One of the first things I remember seeing of your home was your front porch floor. I couldn't believe it was painted. It's still as pretty as it was then.

ReplyDeleteThis is the most incredible front entry...surely you have been approached by a magazine to share your home? Lovely...

Your home is more gorgeous than most I see in my many decorating magazines!
ReplyDeleteI love your welcoming porch and front door.

Your porch and home are so lovely. I, too, live in a cheery, yellow house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning entrance! I love the fleur de lis on the tile! It looks like a magazine photo.
ReplyDeleteIf I had an entry way as lovely as yours, I don't think I'd ever make it inside the door!

Before I got to the faux tile part, I wondered if you & your husband had installed that tile. That's how realistic it looks! I just love your entry - it's so very pretty and welcoming and I love the iron flower basket with the ribbon.

Donna, I'm always amazed everytime I see pics of that faux tile. I really hope you never get around to putting in travertine, as I cannot imagine anything looking better than your faux tile does. That basket is so, so pretty on the door & I know people must just drop their jaws walking up to your entryway. What an entryway you have, my dear!

Love the basket and the trees! So inviting......I could linger there:) Love your new little collages....so full of texture and detail (you are so good at the detail in ALL your work)
ReplyDeleteYour entry way is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI would never have know that is faux tile.
I wish I could see a close up view.
We just had a new porch poured and stamped with a sandstone pattern.
The porch is going to be stained.
I think it would look great in the
colors you used.

ReplyDeleteWhat a welcoming entry. Makes me want to knock on the door for a visit.
ReplyDeleteCan you please post or email me how you did the faux wood look on your front door? I am really wanting to do that to my front door and do not know where to start. Thanks for any help you can give.
